Much of the violent crime that takes place in our state is the product of guns in the hands of people who should not have them. The state recently passed new laws designed to prevent the transfer of guns without appropriate background checks. If elected, my office will work with other law enforcement agencies to vigorously and pro-actively enforce these new laws, punish persons who persist in selling firearms without legally required background checks, actively scrutinize those who are prohibited from having firearms to ensure that they are complying with the law.
